Passion Roads: experiences with a local flavour

BFocusing tourism on the emotions and experiences of travellers is all the rage. This is what is known as experiential tourism. And it's something we know a lot about on the Caminos de Pasión route.

For years, our ten municipalities have been committed to sustainable tourism, focusing on moving away from mass tourism circuits and offering visitors a unique experience: immersing them in the local customs and traditions of each place. This isn't only achieved through visits to different monuments or tourist attractions, but also through various other avenues designed to ensure that visitors leave with the feeling of having fully embraced our distinct character.

From a gastronomic perspective, for instance, within the ten municipalities along the route, visitors can find activities such as visits to agri-food farms, tapas tours or fairs, wine and olive oil tastings, which will familiarise visitors with our characteristic products and dishes, as well as the tradition behind their preparation. In this way, they will learn about the local designations of origin found in the municipalities along the route for products such as olive oil or wine. Trying new flavours and being surprised by the extensive and varied recipes of the Caminos de Pasión municipalities will be quite an experience.

Taking advantage of natural and protected spaces, another way to visit the municipalities and have unique experiences is by using nature as a common thread. This will be possible thanks to the route having 16 approved hiking trails and three greenways that will take you into the heart of each territory. If what you're looking for is a long trek, there's the Great Trail with over 300 kilometres, which connects the ten towns and can turn the journey into a real adventure. In these environments, opt for active tourism activities or stay in one of the charming rural accommodations.
